Scars of Bremen

The first strong layer of colour is a warm tint of Viridian, probably stronger in intensity than the colour values of the later colours although not necessarily so. I wanted to start this painting with something really vivid and alive, maybe connecting with the fear and excitement of clambering into a Lancaster or Wellington and making the trip, in pitch darkness, to German and, hopefully, back again. There is a slight compositional alteration which I will change back at a later stage – the 2 slim vertical columns up the middle aren’t present yet.
