Milking It

With ‘Milking It’ I felt very drawn into making a starting colour choice based on personal memories of growing up in the early 60s and recalling the types of colours on cars, furniture, household objects etc. I recall our own milkman and his milk round. His vehicle (and the livery of the local milk company) was a dusky, pastel colour.

The pink here has been boosted by a strong dose of Harding Yellow Lake so will probably require a warm black or grey at the next stage to counter it and provide the background for ensuing layers…the compositional arrangement using 3 panels of different sizes looks more interesting on the canvas than in the design book for some reason. The off-balance between 2 panels in the left-hand door and one panel in the right-hand door, for now, appeals to me.
