Behind The Timeline

Choosing a starting colour for this painting felt awkward. Reading and re-reading the original MO helped me decide upon this quite intense yellow/orange (one of a group of colours I’d identified at the planning stage). I don’t connect particularly strongly to yellows, as such – I have no real explanation for it. They rarely crop up inmy work. Could it be that people rarely choose yellow for painting their doors and shutters maybe? Ochre, on the other hand, is a lovely type of yellow – but it felt premature to start with this.  My thinking here is to build a sequence of layers of yellow, becoming increasingly more orange, then red, then who knows as I go along. This will contrast with approach taken with others if nothing else etc
