Nameless

Nameless, and the MO’s text allows me to dwell on a fairly shameless and sentimental combination of colours (and surface treatment) mirroring actual decay on doors and wooden signs fixed to buildings. I was tempted to start with a classic ‘primer’ of white or red, followed by subsequent ‘coats’ of exactly the same colour over and over again for this piece until interacting with the surface to suggest real and deep decay towards the end. However, it felt just a little too obvious, so I intend to attack this piece using some elements of this process but move it well away from an obvious and rather linear (maybe dull?) method. For some reason I keep remembering old shop fronts in Poplar as one heads into Town from Docklands
