‘A Transport Of Delight’ – Cheapside, London

Heading east at rush hour. The traffic unusually heavy (an accident…an ‘incident’?). The gridlock soon revealed. Lines of black cabs parked along the streets in a protest to (unfair) competition. A police helicopter patrols overhead, but a mood of calm (resignation?) prevails. Drivers engaging with the public as they stand next to their vehicles. Commuters walk down the middle of the road to their stations and cyclists weave slowly between the automotive freeze. An almost ironic ‘utopian’ portrayal of urban road use.
