‘An Historic Span’ – Viaduct Way, Winchester

Walking along a former railway line that transported freight from Didcot to Southampton, before the advent of the Beeching axe. A series of artistic ‘trackside’ features reminding those on foot of what went before, on rail. Cargo bound for the port and in turn a gateway to the world and a human export in June 1944. Young American men passing through the scenic south of England prior to a potential final voyage at sea.
