Walking along a street in the old town renowned, during the 15th century, for its printers. Passing a man sat behind a small A-board sign he has constructed out of card. A list of ‘requirements’ (needs) neatly listed on both sides for the benefit of would be patrons. A kind of continuation with the traditional trade in the locality.

‘Atlantic Crossing?’ – Caen-Portsmouth

Receiving a text message (mid-channel) from the network provider welcoming me ‘to the USA’. The never ending ‘special relationship’. Up on the lounge deck the magician has disappeared, to be replaced  by a quiz compere asking how many goals Bobby Charlton scored during his tenure at Old Trafford (199). A sort of national reaffirmation.
