‘A Kind Of Curfew’ – Riverside Quarter, SW18

Walking east on a grey windswept weekend. Hardly a soul amongst the high rise ‘design for life’. A strange ghost town betraying the image of ‘vibrant waterfront lifestyle’, as a lone swimmer climbs out of an ‘in house’ pool through the vast expanse of viewing glass (an aquarium in decline). The lack of human presence merely serving to highlight the many deterrents and sense of alienation to the ‘outsider’ (a range of restrictive signs and the obligatory CCTV). The absurdity of this eternal territorial fight for terra firma. If the river itself could be colonised…
