‘A Public Performance’ – Hermitage Basin, Wapping

A tranquil sunlit winter afternoon suddenly interrupted by the sound of a model speedboat racing through the water. The father and son combination at the controls then mindlessly steer the craft towards two swans, causing inevitable distress to the birds. Cue a kind of ‘theatre in the round’, as dissenting voices from around the dock start to admonish the idiotic duo. A (wildlife) photographer, a (local) woman who appears to have experienced similar past incidents and two somewhat bemused passers-by. The cast involved eventually retreat to their respective locations, leaving the space for its two residents.
