‘In Amber/Aspic (Present Tense)’ – Upper Richmond Road, SW15 (1105)

Heading west in driving rain. A queue of traffic with several blue lights flashing in the distance. A police cordon. The strange sense of calm (tranquility) post-RTA. An empty stretch of road, bar a damaged scooter lying on its side. A police photographer captures the wreckage. The slightly reserved tone of conversation in the wake of chaos. The policeman quietly redirecting traffic, a van driver enquiring about an alternative route. Further west, a line of pulsating blue lights placed on the tarmac, like votive candles. The hybrid of mayhem and the application of order.
