‘An Act of Union’ – Paddington Basin-Kensal Green

Few clues to the legacy of a working waterway. The solid stone borders to the water’s edge. White paint emphasising the narrow approach to a (former) lock. The bricked-up arches of old warehouse portals to the boats. The occasional piece of rusting metal (shrouded in seasonal undergrowth) as a talisman to the trade that traversed to and from the metropolis. The water depth perhaps now the only consistent marker of the shallow draft highway.
