‘A Kind of Waterfall’ – Clive Steps, Whitehall

The endless flow of human traffic, powering up and cascading down an historic flight. Civil servants purposefully striding, civil servants slowly inhaling (and exhaling). Cigarettes, roll ups and the ubiquitous smoke clouds of vaping. Tourists negotiating the short ascent/descent with confusion, apprehension and wonder. A loss of direction or a source of inspiration. Runners charging through. ‘Clive of India’ a mere part of the daily course. A kind of steeplechase in stone.
