‘On A Wing & A Prayer’ – Lots Road, SW10 (1810)

Passing a cyclist riding a hire bike (hi-viz, no helmet, green ‘cycle imprint’ front light). His head bowed, wrists resting on the handlebar (hands together as if at prayer), attempting to light a cigarette as he pedals east. Further west, another cyclist on automatic pilot. D-lock slung around his torso like an ammunition belt (no lights or helmet), he teeters on the edgelands of cycle lane and road whilst deep in the act of sending a text. The complex relationship between health and safety and personal freedom.
