‘A Revolution (or Two)’ – Cobham

The mill wheel standing stock still, like a stopped clock, rust and grass marking the cessation of the working hour. 1534 (officially recorded), 1799 (washed away in a ‘biblical flood’), 1822 (animal food production commences), 1928 (the advance of roller mills and the Atlantic import from the USA and Canada threaten the ‘cottage industry’). A Canadian return…in the form of a tank partially demolishing part of the building during the second total industrial war. Fast forward to 1996. Preservation and a kind of service medal in the form of conservation.
